Workshops

The Glass-House has developed a range of workshops for community groups, social enterprises, housing associations, local authorities and other groups to give them the practical tools to move projects forward and to help them learn more about community led design. We want to keep our work as responsive and accessible as possible, so are happy to work with you to adapt our workshops or develop new ones to meet your needs.

Here are some examples of our workshops:

Introductory Workshops

These sessions are a great way to get thinking about community led design or to launch a project and generate interest and excitement.

Introduction to Community Led Design

This interactive session will provide advice and information on how to take part in or lead community led design projects. We’ll explore the importance of design, why local people should get involved and the impact a changed area can have on the community. The workshop includes some real examples of spaces and places that have been changed by and with local people. Participants will also take part in a hands-on session to see why their input matters to the design process.

Design By Consensus

An introduction to engaging a range of people in developing a collective vision for change to an area. This hands-on workshop explores the benefits and challenges of working with a broad mix of stakeholders and why their involvement can lead to more successful buildings, spaces homes and neighbourhoods. The session offers valuable insight into effective participation as well as practical tools to take away. This workshop can be tailored to focus on buildings, spaces, homes or neighbourhoods within an urban or rural setting.

How is it Working Walkabout

A one-day session including a walkabout and critical analysis of your space/building/homes/neighbourhood. The workshop will help you to identify the positive and negative aspects of your place from the perspective of different users, managers and maintenance staff, and to consider what changes could be made. This workshop can be used as a general introductory session to get groups looking at places and spaces critically or as a more focused element of the development or evaluation of a specific project.

Project-based Workshops

These sessions focus on moving a specific project to the next stage. Each of these support sessions is tailored to suit your project and you can pick and mix from our menu to create a package perfectly suited to your specific needs. Please have a look at the options below to get an idea of what we can offer and then get in touch with our Project Support Team to discuss your requirements.
