Homes Study Tour
Manchester
Date: 6th March 2012 - 6th March 2012
Venue:
Fee: FREE for community groups, £50 for professionals Funded through The Building Community Consortium
6 March 2012
To understand how local community groups have had an impact on their homes, we will visit two contrasting schemes in Manchester and Liverpool. We will first visit the Eldonian Village, a community-based housing development which has been running since the 80s and is often cited as a best practice example of community action. We'll spend the afternoon at Homes for Change, a housing co-operative in Hulme. Transport is provided.
This tour will be a chance to see what can be achieved through meaningful community involvement in the design process. You will meet other people undertaking projects like yours and be able to share experiences with them. We will be joined throughout the day by a design professional who will be able to answer technical questions and will be encouraging you to analyse the sites we visit.
