Spaces
Are you working on a project to revitalise or develop a new open space? Whether your space is a part of a larger scheme or a self-contained project, the design decisions you make during the development stages will have a great impact on:
- how the space is used and enjoyed
- how the space relates to what is around it
- its long term management and maintenance
Glass-House support can help you explore what is possible, what is practical and what could be delightful. We will work with you to help you create a space that brings positive change to your neighbourhood and real benefits to the people who use it. We offer both scheduled programmes around the UK and tailored support that can be delivered where you are.
Study ToursAttend a Spaces Study Tour to experience inspiring open space projects and meet the communities who developed them. These one-day tours help groups explore landscaping and materials and move their projects forward through discussion, led by landscape architects and Glass-House staff. We also have a Play Study Tour, focusing specifically on creating play areas and playful landscapes. More information on our Study Tours.

Design TrainingOur two-day Spaces by Design courses give community groups the design skills, knowledge and confidence to contribute effectively to the design of their open space. Attending groups work with landscape architects and Glass-House staff to develop their existing project through creative hands-on workshops and have the chance to visit inspiring parks, squares and other inspiring spaces. Our Spaces by Design Programme can be delivered with a particular focus around play. We also offer Young SpaceMakers, a course designed specifically for young people involved in an open space project. |

WorkshopsOur tailored Workshops give you the tools, skills and confidence to work effectively with design professionals, the wider community and other stakeholders to develop your spaces project. Workshops help you to understand landscaping principles, explore what a design brief is and how to develop one or how to engage the community in your design project.
