Project Support

As a community group, you have local knowledge and are aware of the specific requirements of your project, however you may not have the skills, confidence or resources to plan and then implement the project. At The Glass-House we tailor our support to suit your particular needs and aspirations and can bring our support to your neighbourhood.

The early stages of any regeneration project can be daunting, The Glass-House can assist and answer your initial project queries by providing support informally including:

  • Advice over the phone
  • Useful links, downloads and resources
  • A visit to meet the group and explore design options

Our Project Support team can also provide a short burst of specialist help to move your project forward. The tailored Project Support package we provide ranges from helping you to a better understanding of design principles, to engaging with more technical aspects of working on a physical regeneration project. We can also help clarify the stages of design, the roles of those involved, and how to generate clear strategies for moving your project forward. All of our support is aimed at giving you the skills and confidence to work effectively with design professionals, project partners and other stakeholders.

Free Project Support can include a combination of the following:

  • Guidance on design briefs and project vision
  • Help with getting other community members involved
  • Locally run workshops to help build confidence
  • Inspiring study visits
  • Specialist advice from design/regeneration professionals
  • Independent advice on negotiating action plans with project partners and professionals

The Glass-House works with a pool of external consultants able to provide specialised independent advice and support to the design process of community led regeneration projects. These consultants, our Enablers, include a broad range of practising design and regeneration professionals, but also community activists with experience of successfully moving projects forward. We also work with artists and specialists in specific areas of design and architecture including eco design, refurbishment and restoration. Some of our enablers specialise in involving young people in the design process and we will call on the most appropriate enabler to provide support and expertise to your project. Our enablers are based across the UK and whenever possible we will use enablers who know your local area and are familiar with the context. The Glass-House can offer up to five days of free tailored support through these Bespoke Project Support packages. These are available to tenant, resident and community groups across the UK through an application process.
