Are you working on a community building project? We can help you with design and community engagement skills to help you develop a building that will bring positive change to your organisation and to local people.
All of our support around building projects is aimed towards developing a building that:
- works for those who use, manage and maintain it
- is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable in the long term
- complements what is around it (in its appearance and what it offers)
- makes you feel welcome and happy to be there
The Glass-House offers a range of support for your project, both through training and events programs around the country and through tailored support delivered in your neighbourhood.
Study ToursAttend our Buildings Study Tours to experience inspiring community building projects and meet the communities who developed them. On these one-day tours groups explore design and materials and move their projects forward through discussions led by architects and Glass-House staff. We also run an Eco Buildings Study Tour with a special focus on environmental approaches to building design. |

Design TrainingOur two-day Buildings by Design courses give community groups the design skills, knowledge and confidence to contribute effectively to the design of their project of developing a community building. Attending groups develop their existing project through creative hands-on workshops and have the chance to visit inspiring completed buildings. |

WorkshopsOur tailored Workshops give you tools, skills and confidence to work effectively with design professionals, the wider community and other stakeholders to develop your building project. Workshops help you to: understand architectural principles; explore what a design brief is and how to develop one; and how to engage the community in your design project. |
